Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the French and Polish phraseological expressions and units containing names of trees, called dendronyms in linguistics. Trees have fascinated mankind for a long time. They are firmly rooted in the culture, not only in Europe. This is evident also in language. Idioms containing dendronyms are a valuable source of knowledge about the history of a people, its traditions and customs. The goal of this paper is to analyse selected expressions in both languages for differences which turn out in the linguistic worldview.
