Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the causes and features of the mutual influence of the joke and the internet meme as genres of the postfolklore and internet folklore. It indicates some objects and features of the visualization of the joke in the internet meme. The similarities of the joke and the internet meme are marked (at the level of the memetics, the culture of laughter and the postfolklore), the advantages and disadvantages of these genres are defined and compared with each other in an oral existence and on the internet. The article analyses the characteristics of compensatory trends of the internet memes: their joint review and oral retelling (verbalization). Work allows a better understanding of the dynamics of functioning of the genre of the modern folklore.
