Summary/Abstract: The aim of these deliberations is the presentation and semantic analysis of the Polish journalistic„discourse of disagreement” as a response to the Manichean assessment of reality, as presentedby the authors of the black-and-white vision of the word. The excerpted material refers to the period from mid-2009 to mid-2011 and is derived frommoderate and left-wing orientation periodicals. At that time bracket, the discourse is dominated byvery different, often extreme assessments of the Katyń crime and the Smoleńsk catastrophe of 10April 2010. It is, at the same time, a period of reviving old and emerging eter new negativestereotypes about Russia, and especially the Russians. 'The one-sidedness of emotional evaluations is a stimulus triggering off a different qualitydiscourse based on arguments and common sense. The clash of these two interpretations creates acolourful cultural space and provides information about the Polish mentality, this time in theaspect of evaluation of our national shortcomings.
