Summary/Abstract: Mythological semantics of the calendar transition in the folk tradition defined as “gukannya vyasny” reveals light code of mystery, poetic mythological story of the struggle of darkness and light. Multi-faceted, detailed representation of mythological semantics gives an imperative for participants of the ritual to welcome spring in another world. Mythological semantics in the acts of “gukannya vyasny” is connected with the semantics of girls’ rituals of growing-up, and with the concept of dying and resurrected nature.
