International consumer protection

Summary/Abstract: The article tracks the development of international consumer protection since 1985, when the United Nations adopted Guidelines on Consumer Protection (UNGCP) and an intergovernmental expert group (UNGCP) was set up to monitor the implementation of the Guidelines. The article also discusses the work of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which in 2011 adopted "Basic principles of consumer protection in the financial sphere", as well as the work of the World Bank, which in 2012 adopted guidelines for "Good practices for the protection of financial services users”.
