Summary/Abstract: What is citizen journalism and what impact does it have in the current information society? In what way does development of ICT change the role of media consumers and what are the implications of that change to the role of professional journalists? The author of this article is discussing the relationship between citizen and traditional journalism, i.e. weather citizen journalism is encouraging or jeopardising the work of existing media. Serbian media landscape is presented in order to pose the question does citizen journalism exist in the country, and does it have the capacity to jeopardise profession that is already in deep crisis. Public debate on the pro’s and con’s of citizen journalism has first been brought up in Serbia during the crisis on the border with Kosovo and Metohija when reports on Twitter exceeded official media and became the key source of information for online community. The example of Brankica Stamenkovic – Krugolina Borup shows how blog can also be a powerful tool for starting a public debate and, in this case, even and online course of action which brought about social change.
