The Good Governance Model - an Important Factor for National Security

Summary/Abstract: The object of the research is the exceptionally important role of good governance for the security nowadays when the world undergoes major transformation at the background and under the influence of the processes of restructuring the world economy based on an entirely new model of development. The accent is placed on the issues related to the perception of security in the Republic of Bulgaria and on the notion of security in the current century. The main role of good governance for the security is outlined, while proposing a strategy model based on this very principle of good governance in compliance with the modern practice and theory. The underlying importance of the national security good governance model is brought to the level of protecting the individual citizens. To achieve such a governance model, the main role is played by the welldeveloped and effective state administration, the trust in the judiciary, the political stability that are to guarantee the observance of the law, the consolidation and democratisation of the civil society, the improving of the standard of living and the intellectual development of the citizens. Another essential role of the same importance is that of the international relations expressed in balanced partnership of our country with all other subjects and the possibility of being a partner of equal worth and initiative
