Summary/Abstract: In this article author defined the notion of freedom from a philosophical-legal aspect and analyzed the most significant domestic and international legal acts dealing with the problematic of human freedom and freedom in general sense as a universal value. Taking into consideration the interdisciplinary approach to the issue in question, it is possible to define freedom as a natural right of a human being to arbitrarily select the content and way of his/her activity in different areas of individual and communal life by respecting rightful law and tolerance as an expression of the culture of ratio, not harming the same and equal freedom of others.
