Summary/Abstract: In the following article the author has the aim to analyze, evaluate and differentiate to an extent between the terms “competition” and “competitiveness” in the business organizations. By examining the essential strategies applied, as well as the role and the methods for evaluation of the competitiveness of the firms and organizations to formulate strategies for effective management. In order to achieve the outlined aims, the following tasks have been set: 1. To analyze, evaluate and differentiate between the terms “competition” and “competitiveness”. 2. To examine the role of competitiveness and the methods for its evaluation. 3. To formulate strategies for effective management based on a SWOT analysis.
