Summary/Abstract: Timoleon Pisani was born in Galaţi on November 14, 1868, as his wife Zoe mentions in a biographical sketch, different from that of other biographers who give as date of birth the year 1872. Of Greek origin, it follows the courses The schools of Galaţi and Bucharest and, subsequently, the Faculty of Law of Bucharest. Since the high school years he began to collaborate in various newspapers. As a result he was editor, director and owner, for shorter or longer periods, of newspapers Epoca, Argus, Timpul, Universul. Correspondent of war, specialist of oriental questions, economist, it became celebrated by its articles concerning the struggle for the purity of the Romanian language. Opponent of neologisms. He died on 8 July 1943 in Bucharest.
