Summary/Abstract: An aim of the article, which is of the cognitive and methodological nature, is to identify the selected aspects of financial behaviours of pensioners, in particular of the use of financial services, as well as the attitudes towards financial pensionscheme security. Moreover, the aim of the author’s considerations is an attempt to define the determinants of the use, in the surveys carried out among pensioners, of the standardised face-to-face interviews and individual in-depth interviews. In her article, the author made use of the findings of surveys and individual in-depth interviews carried out in the years 2011-2013 by the Poznań University of Economics. As the carried out surveys show, the list of the factors, for which pensioners use in ever growing extent financial services, is still shorter than that where there are placed the reasons of the lowest so-called level of banking penetration of the same segment of the market. The carried out analyses show that the use of banking services depends on the age of pensioners, their education, place of residence, financial situation as well as on their state of health. Due to the specificity of the segment of pensioners, the strategy allowing for achievement of high-quality research findings is integration in one research process of quantitative and qualitative methods. Social implications of the considerations made may concern educational activities aimed at fighting financial divide of elderly people, while the practical conclusions may be used in designing and implementing of research in the market segment in question.
