Summary/Abstract: In the course of the last ten years there have been significant changes in all the basic elements of financing research and experimental development, viz, in the source, volume and method of financing. These changes, which began about 1960 and were especially intensive after the introduction of the Economic and Social Reform (1965), have been the result of increasing efforts to make research and experimental development an integral part and function of Yugoslav society based on self-management. The Federal Assembly Resolution on Scientific Research1 (1965) and the 1966—1970 Federal Social Development Plan laid down, within the framework of research development policy, principles and sources for, and in outlines also the volume of, research financing. Science policy was elaborated in greater detail in the Research Development Program for 1966—1970, which was also adopted by the Federal Assembly.
