Summary/Abstract: This article reviews the development and peculiarities of Lithuanian ethnographic photography. On the basis of research methodology in visual anthropology, the paper analyzes the development of Lithuanian ethnographic photography. The problem is how visual images are used to produce ethnographic knowledge. The work is based on four groups of sources – Lithuanian photographers’ collections and albums from the middle of 19th to the 21st century. The questions posed by the author are as follows: What was the development of Lithuanian ethnographic photography from the middle of 19th to the 21st century?; What are the peculiarities of Lithuanian ethnographic photography in the context of visual anthropology?.
