Approaches in the study of psychological time

Summary/Abstract: The present paper discusses time as a subject of scientific research and of practices in applied psychology. A definition of "psychological time" is attempted as opposed to the related notions of physical, biological and historical time, investigated by other sciences. The paper gives a brief review of available approaches and methods for the study of psychological time in different directions of psychological science: psychology of perception, psychophysiology and medical biology, organizational and adult psychology, personality psychology, etc. Interpersonal and intergroup interactions can often generate conflicts aroused by differences in the subjective psychological time of each participant. In that respect psychological time has to be further investigated and recognized by psychologists.
