Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between self-esteem and work values in Bulgarian university students. We administered the Mieke Vunderink and Geert Hofstede’s questionnaire (Vunderink & Hofstede, 1998) for measurement of 22 values / aims in labor in students and the Coopersmith’s questionnaire (Coopersmith, 2002) for measurement of global self-esteem in adult samples /short form/. The sample consisted of 100 students, aged 19-38. The results showed that high students’self- esteem was related to the desire to rise in the hierarchy at work and to work in a prestigious and successful company. The value „receiving deserved recognition when you‘re doing well with your work“ was more important for women than for men. Gender differences were not observed in the levels of general selfesteem in students.
