Summary/Abstract: Palaea Historica was compiled in the 9th century in Byzantium and in medieval Slavonic tradition it was translated several times. The earliest translation of the Palaea Historica was made in Bulgaria in the second half of the 10th century – the beginning of the 11thcentury. The place of the occurrence of the translation does not provoke any disputes, but its dating has caused disagreement from the side of some authors. The article discusses in detail their doubts. The analysis corroborates the assignment of the translation to the late Old Bulgarian period.
