In the Healer`s World (For the Way from the World of Science to that of Traditional/ Alternative Medicine)

Summary/Abstract: This study focuses on the vision of modern healers, whose autobiographical stories are collected in a series of field ethnographic studies. Through their prism an attempt has been made to take a look at the circumstances that require the existence of different types of medical systems - traditional and scientific. In the image of the healer, this situation of cultural dualism usually finds explanation in a series of factors - traumatic experiences, miraculous interference, and so on. On the other hand, the trend of outflow from the conventional medicine also favors the transition from scientific to traditional medicine. The need for legitimacy facilitates the experience of traditional healers to self-portray and to bring their traditional knowledge into a recognizable framework of modern perception.
