Summary/Abstract: On 1st of February 2014, with the enforcement of the new Criminal Procedure Code, provisions concerning the preventive measure of house arrest became applicable. This generated some public discussion and controversy regarding the effectiveness and applicability of this measure in the context of technical possibilities available to the law enforcement system. In this article, the authors analyze both the main legal issues adopted on national level in this domain, and the practical experience of the judicial authorities of other states regarding house arrest.
