The 65th Professor Tatur’s Department of MSU anniversary

Summary/Abstract: The annual 36-th International Scientific-Practical Conference «Taturovskie Tchtenia» was held on June 26–27, 2008 in Moscow State University named after Lomonosov (MSU). The Conference was devoted to the memory of the outstanding scientist and practitioner Sergey K. Tatur (1897–1974), who was a well known specialist in accounting, economic analysis and market oriented methods. His works were translated in many countries including Poland. Professor Tatur was the founder (in 1943) and the head of Accounting, Analysis and Audit Department of the Economic Faculty. The topic of the conference was „Management Accounting: Theory, Practice and Development Perspectives”. The presentation of the Honored MSU Professor Anatoly Sheremet (who is the Head of the Department and a pupil of Professor Tatur) which is published in the journal, is devoted to the 65-th anniversary foundation of the Department and the role played by the Department members in management accounting development. The presentation consists of 4 parts: 1. Foundation and development of the Department (a lot of well known specialists, for example Professor Alicja Jaruga, the head of the Polish school of accounting, who were and are working in European countries and former Soviet republics (independent states now) had been trained in the Department); 2. Management accounting nature and its evolution; 3. Stages in management accounting development; 4. Role of the Department’s members in the process of modern management accounting development.
