Intercultural competence in the context of internationalization of higher education

Summary/Abstract: The purposes of the article are to consider the internationalization of higher education as an inherent component of globalization in the context of socio-cultural development of civilization, to characterize the intercultural competence as an important part in teaching the specialists and to adapt adequately in the global educational space. Methodology. The methodological basis of the study is a set of methods of the philosophical, general and specific scientific research levels. The methods were chosen considering the aim and the tasks of the scientific study: hermeneutic approach allowed revealing the peculiarities of interpretation and understanding of the terms "globalization" and "educational internationalization"; the systemstructural method helped to characterize the elucidations of the subject of study; formal-logical method gave the opportunity to reveal the reasons of formulating an intercultural competence; method of generalization permit to formulate the offers concerning the development of intercultural personality concept. Scientific novelty. The scientific innovation is the analysis of the meaning of intercultural competence. The basis of the intercultural competence is the opportunity to get new experiences, proficiencies and skills, which are essential for adaptation by studying at foreign universities, and support the raising of intercultural cooperation level of the educational institutions in terms of internationalization of the educational space. Conclusions. The internationalization of higher education is associated with qualitative transformations of contemporary civilization toward to the rapprochement of the distant human communities.
