Summary/Abstract: Research of opera – one of the most important tasks of modern musicology. The theory of opera dramaturgy, which became the basis of modern methodology of systemic and structural analysis of the opera, is now complemented by the development of musical textual criticism, composer's stage direction, genre genetics of operas. All these aspects can be combined when considering the phenomenon of genre archetypism as an important factor, conditioning the process organization (opera dramaturgy), and the structural integrity of the opera (as procedural subject). Opera is synthetic in nature, which was originally described on the characteristics of ritual, religious and theatrical performances, forms of folk and professional poetry, music, choreography. Constant models of the spiritual life of man, present in opera, transmitted in the quasi-metaphoric form of vocal and stage performance, allow to speak about its archetypal essence. The genre code, specified by a composer, creates a system of interrelations, acting within the opera works, defining their content and stylistic originality. Moving from the plane of analysis of the opera text to its studies as a whole system gives methodological significance to the notions of "genre" and "genre archetype". When considering the genre archetype as a fundamental principle of the opera, methods of genetic, semiotic, systemic and comparative analysis are relevant.
