Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the health and non-health factors with respect to the capability to perform hard mental work. Persons who are able to do hard mental work are those who do not suffer from any serious organic diseases, including cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and are physically fit with the physiology of the brain undisturbed. Hard mental work is mainly associated with creative people. Creative mental work requires not only a higher neural activity, but it is also dependent upon the interaction of complex psychological processes occurring as a result of individual traits of their performer.
