Summary/Abstract: “Description of the Ukraine” by G. Boplan is one of the most popular records among those who study medieval Eastern Europe. A question appears, however, why notes on Bujak are so scarce in this fundamental work? The author of this article, based on a complex analysis of already known documentary records explains this fact by a peculiar situation in this region: there, under leadership of Kantemir-murza, a new military-predatory nomadic union of Budjak Horde was formed, which was closed to the external world.
