Measuring the standard of living in Macedonia

Summary/Abstract: The poverty calculations have started since 1997 and have been made following the World Bank's recommendations. The poverty line in the Republic of Macedonia is defined at the level of 70% of the median equivalent consumption. Which means that the State Statistical Office measures poverty through expenditures, because our opinion and the opinion of the World Bank is that expenditures are more relevant data for measuring the poverty at the moment, as the data collected for the calculation of poverty from the household consumption survey, are more relevant in terms of revenue.
