Summary/Abstract: Young disabled people are in a special situation in the labour market as in their case two factors limiting the chances of getting employment coincide: young age and disability. Employment seems to be of a particular importance for this group as (in addition to providing financial independence) it helps to build self-esteem and attain adulthood, i.e. leave family home and start a family. The article discusses issues related to the labour market participation of young disabled people (aged 18–29 years): characteristics of their employment and the reasons for inactivity and unemployment. The analyzed issues also include motivations of young disabled people to take up work and their attitude towards their young age and disability as factors differentiating chances in the labour market. The presentation of these issues was based on the data from the last National Census and the results of the research conducted by the author, which focused on the situation of young disabled people in the labour market in Podkarpacie region. The article ends with recommendations on how to promote the activity of young people with disabilities.
