Summary/Abstract: The aim of this work is the presentation of the legal status of international sports organisations as well as the description of the norms they establish. International sports organisations are non-governmental organisations and therefore have no legal capacity in accordance with the international public law. In spite of this, international sports organisations effectively influence the actions taken by countries (equal participants of international relations) in which the membership organisations exist. This situation is caused by the unclear character of the norms on sports law. The doubts concerning the above mentioned legal norms are analysed in the article. Not only does the complicated character of the sports law norms affect unethical actions of the international sports organisations, but it also influences economic and political matters of the above mentioned institutions. Unfortunately, these norms are often to blame for placing the international sports organisations in the privileged position in relation to the law of particular countries. The below mentioned article also offers some legal solutions which could influence the hegemony of sports federations.
