Summary/Abstract: Although the concept of play is a part of various disciplines, there is no consensus concerning its its definition of classification. In general terms, the play is a creative activity with original rules, in which the player seeks the solution of the dramatic conflicts within the specified rules. For such a concept of play that has existed throughout the history of humanity, but that does not have a single definition, the existence of different classifications is inevitable. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the concept of play and play types in the axis of literature. For this purpose, the historical development of the concept of play and the relationship between play and creativity have been included on the axis of positive sciences. The different classifications available for the play types are addressed and an inclusive classification that is considered valid throughout the research has been identified. In the study on which the document analysis was based on the qualitative research methods, the analysis axis was determined and screening was carried out. Various disciplines such as education, psychiatry, philosophy and history have been determinative of this axis. The main results of the study are listed as such: The play has its place in all disciplines that are in touch with the individual from education to psychiatry. Consideration of the concept of play based on educational and dramatic foundations in educational settings will be helpful in seeing the top frame and synthesizing the components and adding subtitles when necessary. The data obtained at the end of the study are thought to be beneficial to field researchers and language educators.
