Summary/Abstract: According to Elizabeth Grosz, the body has remained a conceptual blind spot in both Western philosophical thought and contemporary feminist theory, implicitly defined as unruly and merely incidental to the defining characteristics of mind, reason and identity. Philosophy has established itself as a form of knowing only through the disawoval of the body and exclusion of femininity.
