Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses aspects of literary similarities in the period of Serbian realism, with a particular overview on the parallels between the work of B. Nušic and Č. Popovic. The author underlines the similarities due to literary influences and the similarities existing independently of the imitation and influences. Comparison with the works of foreign writers (Chekhov, Tolstoy, Garshin, Pirandello) and observation of „the motive of the deceased” point to the fact that literary similarities are conditioned by the dominant preoccupations of the epoch, but also to the difference between the external similarity (topics, characters) and deep similarities (procedure, motivation, attitude, tendency).
