Summary/Abstract: The French philosopher carries on the biblical tradition of thinking about God, who is perceived by people as aporia: one can neither talk nor remain silent about Him. According to Marion, in metaphysical tradition God is something of a role model, imagined Divinity. Referring to Nietzsche, he claims that “death of God” means that to believe in God’s credibility, one should first become totally alienated from Him. The philosopher recognizes feebleness and insufficiency of metaphysical concepts of God, who is an absolute image of deity, an idol whose divine nature is being established for man’s needs and capacities.
