Summary/Abstract: North Korea and Iran are among the countries under strict Western surveillance or embargo regarding nuclear weapons production and the use of nuclear energy. Nevertheless, Iran is on the brink of producing and using nuclear energy “for peaceful purposes”, while North Korea has already tested nuclear rockets. How was this possible? An American journalist, Mark Hibbs, has gathered along the years enough information to conclude that the source for the technical equipment necessary to produce nuclear weapons lies in Pakistan, a country with its own nuclear arming program. And the mind behind this program was Dr. Abdul Quadeer Khan who has stolen from Holland the plans for producing the equipment used in enriching uranium, has “bought” from German and Swiss go-betweens technical elements and has sold them further, for huge sums of money, to countries interested in producing these weapons. Is the process of stopping nuclear arming possible? The author of the present text gives a very pertinent answer to this question.
