RISK PROBLEMS AND TECHNOLOGICAL HAZARDS IN THE CASE OF ROMANIA

Summary/Abstract: Technological hazards usually occur when technology is lost. The more the technology progresses, the more vulnerabilities increase and the chance of an accident increases. Security measures can not include unanticipated reactions, possible hidden defects / deficiencies, human errors or collective mistakes. Although the probability of producing medium or major technological accidents on the territory of Romania is rather low, they generate many victims a year human and material damage. After 1989, the risk of accidents increased as a number of modern technologies were adopted and implemented, so the national authorities approached the field and started a process of elaborating, adopting and implementing specific regulations on prevention, protection and intervention in emergencies caused by technological hazards.
