Summary/Abstract: What are the Romanian specific characteristics? Is there a “Romanian specific”? These questions will be explored in the following considerations. The different, often even contradictory assessment of the “West” and the “East” is one of the leitmotifs of an intellectual history debate, which has been conducted since the entry of the Romanian principalities into the western civilization area and has not remained silent until today. The positions of the respective protagonists are not always so clear.
