Summary/Abstract: The article studies some of the questions raised by the history of the Modern Bulgarian continuants of the terminological lexis created in the Middle Ages and found in both the classical Old Bulgarian written sources and the writings of the Preslav Literary School. The author draws our attention to the more recent redistribution of the special lexemes of the period into terminological systems as a result of the differentiation of the modern scholarly knowledge. Also scrutinised is the determinologisation of some theological terms in the Modern Bulgarian Language. Their stylistic peculiarities in today’s language discourse are further analysed. Besides, the problems of semantic alternation and reverse development from synonymy to unification and standardisation in the lexical category in question are also considered. What is examined in addition are phenomena as dropout of the system of the old derivation models with new word-formation types.
