Summary/Abstract: Monuments traditionally impose emotional sovereignty over the territory: they are the expression of the cultural hegemony of the epoch. With the transition towards the second modernity in the 1980s, memorial objects start losing their consensual character; they start to provoke, to launch violent debates, to be vandalized. Could we say that the monument is no longer something durable and not to say eternal, that it gets closer to something like a situational artistic-political performance?
