Summary/Abstract: Wendy Griswold, an American sociologist, presents her studies in cultural sociology and in the sociology of literature, placing her own activity in the context of the historical development of these fields in the United States. She talks about her experiences as a doctoral student at Harvard University, describes her international research projects, and explains her claims and preferences concerning sociological methodology and theory.
