Summary/Abstract: In the present study the author considers the so far work of the United Nations International Law Commission on the topic "Crimes against humanity". Under particular consideration are the issues about the current legal regulation of those crimes, the mandate of the International Law Commission to include the topic in its programme of work, the evolution of the definition of the term "crimes against humanity" and its basic features as well as the work of the Special Rapporteur, the Drafting Committee and the Commission itself in view of the preparation of the draft articles on crimes against humanity. At present those articles are transmitted to Governments, international organizations and others for comments and observations, with the request that such comments and observations be submitted to the UN Secretary-General by 1 December 2018.
