Summary/Abstract: Willy Russell is an example of a writer whose popularity and critical reception is not extensively reflected in serious studies. There is a noticeable tendency to appraise rather than analyse Russell’s work. The aim of the present article is to dissect the function of drink images in the context of class-related issues Russell thematises in his plays.
