Summary/Abstract: The effectiveness of a state’s policy in the contemporary world is largely dependent on the ability to use tools which enable it to exert indirect influence on other actors in international relations. “Soft power” is the power of attractiveness, inspiring others to undertake initiatives on their own, in accordance with our intentions but without being directly influenced. These elements play a significant role in China’s foreign policy; the state strives to create a positive atmosphere around projects implemented in various parts of the world. The geographic and cultural proximity to Southeast Asian countries means that this issue becomes fundamentally important with regard to this region.
