Summary/Abstract: The article discusses basic problems regarding the development of sociological knowledge, focusing on the theoretical and methodological solutions. Based on the tasks of the two levels of sociological knowledge – the theoretical and the empirical – the article attempts to present an explanation for the existence of the unjustifiable fragmentary approach to the theoretical and me-thodological problems. It is argued that the fragmentary approach is characteristic not only of Bulgarian sociology, but also of countries with long traditions in sociological investigation, with significant theoretical achievements and considerable experience in this problem area. The article reveals and introduces several rarely tackled niches of investigation and identifies considerable number of „blancks“ in the methodological branch of sociological knowledge: in modeling, in experimental investigation, analysis of dynamics, structural analysis etc. By formulating several basic direction and expected effects from the intensification of synthetic analysis the article presents arguments for the necessity and the possibility of accelerated synthetic analyses in the field of theory and methodology.
