Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to comparing the distributional properties of Russian mental and emotional verbs. The research is based on the theory of semantic syntax in S. Karolak’s version, in particular, on the idea that the formal-grammatical (surface) structures of syntactic expressions represent the base (deep) semantic structures, which in turn are conditioned by the lexical meaning of the superior component (verb). The author takes into account several aspects of the comparative analysis: propositional-semantic structures, the position of the first (substantial) argument, i.e. the experiencer, the different syntactic representations of propositional arguments. A comparative analysis of mental and emotive verbs is based on the quantitative data.
