Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the need to redefine “postcolonialism” in the light of recent theoretical developments. If traditionally postcolonialism is seen as what happens after a colony gains independence, the shifting nature of the term “colony”, as well as the more recent direction of “Neo-” or “Supercolonialism” imply a unification of divergent tendencies through globalization and through the sustained effort to cope with the hybridity of non-Western cultures and with the new threats of terrorism.
