Summary/Abstract: The study aims to analyze how the quality of public sector staff is affecting the sustainable development phenomenon.The "Public sector" refers to all public authorities and institutions and all NGO bodies acting to achieve a public interest. The first section analyzes the concepts of "public authority" and "public sector staff" in terms of meaning and their scope, such as public service as a form by which government operates.The second section addresses, by the legal and ethical perspective, the idea of sustainable development, with emphasis on the role of government in achieving this type of development.The essence of public administration is to achieve daily needs, to perform public services and also taking strategic decisions, essential for the present, but especially for the future of a state's borders looked and also in relations with other states.Within the administration, broadly, operates more staff, respectively officials or civil servants, employees, managers etc.The way that the administrative tasks are fulfilled depends on the quality of its staff's work and moral quality.Therefore, all national and supranational regulations require an "irreproachable morality" for those exercising functions within public authorities.Professional and moral quality of the people is a condition sine qua non for the quality of a system, of a regime, of a state's life and their evolution.
