Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses articles as a part of speech in a general linguistic sense, and gives examples of some words functioning as definite or indefinite article in the Bosnian language, similar to article usage in the English language. By means of a functional-semantic and contrastive analysis in the description of determination, as with a typological classification, we show that some Bosnian words have article properties. Such is the case with the Bosnian numeral one when it doesn’t denote quantity and countability, but the prevalence (egsistence) i.e. definiteness, as well as some forms of pronouns denoting reference.
