Summary/Abstract: The brothers from Thessaloniki Cyril and Methodius are indelibly inscribed in the history of Slavic nations. Their mission has exceeded personal and political dimensions and has become the basis of an inheritance that is commonly known as Cyrillo-Methodian tradition. In the contemporary process of globalization and changing world this famous tradition has become an element of stability. The controversy of the question who is a true follower of Cyrillo-Methodian tradition has been discussed in scientific and religious circles for centuries. The answer is clear. It is that one who continues in their work, who acts as they did and whose behaviour is in the spirit of that tradition. Greek Catholic Church in Slovakia considers itself to be an inheritor of Thessaloniki brothers' work in both faith and religious rite. The Association of Sts. Cyril and Methodius within this Church deals with a development of Cyrillo-Methodian tradition. The article describes essential circumstances of this Association and its successful extension. The Association of Sts. Cyril and Methodius was founded in Michalovce and served for the purpose of national- religious rise of Greek Catholic Church in Zemplin. At the same time it has to be said that its representatives respected religious hierarchy in applying Christian revival method of enculturation. In practice it meant a partial implementation of standard language in liturgical life and above all religious writing. The historical figures of the Illuminators that are briefly described serve as a basis for introduction of personalities from the Association. Among them stand out deceased bishop Pavol Gojdič, the administrator of the Association Ján Murín, priest Jozef Kne*o and laymen Jozef Pichonský and Pavol Kušnír. The life of the Association is visible on their life medallions and at the same time they express the sense of the existence of the Association for the Church. Nowadays, from 1991, the renewed activity of the Association of Sts. Cyril and Methodius has its priorities in publishing activities, but also in organization seminars and actions to support Cyrillo-Methodian tradition.
