FIVE LANDSCAPES BY BEHAUDIN SELMANOVIĆ

Summary/Abstract: Five landscapes by Behaudin Selmanović presented at the 2007 Bihać exhibition What is Abstraction? Art in BiH in the 1950s and 1960s offers some new insights into broader Bosnian-Herzegovinian context: on the one hand, the development of repetitional artistic practices, and, on the other, development of monochromatic paintings, so that the exhibits establish a line of development of mono-chromatic painting in BiH starting from Gabrijel Jurkić, at the beginning of the 20th century, and going all the way, till its full liberalisation during the 1960s, 1970s and in later years. The art of Behaudin Selmanović can be understood as the link that connects the earliest monochromatic paintings in the art of BiH and their later development - the works of Edin Numankadić, Ljubomir Perčinlić and Radoslav Tadić.
