Summary/Abstract: Old and new do not always oppose each other: without beginning there is no end,and without history there is no present. Similar is the case with the field of religious education which has two ancient manifestations and teaching procedures. Sharing the stories and the experiences of faith determines the basic tone of the catechesis of all times. Another magnificent manifestation of religious spirituality is singing which is not only a segment of life but also an element of existence: “I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.” (Psalms 104:33). Music, especially in its most basic expression, singing, plays a major role in religious education: “Powerful sources of spiritual enrichment spring from music.” (Zoltán Kodály)
