The Menus in the School Canteen in Osijek in 1926-1927: Contribution to the Research of Students’ Nourishment in Osijek in the First Half of the 20th Century

Summary/Abstract: As a contribution to the research of students’ nourishment in Osijek between the two world wars, the author presents the transcription of the menus from the School canteen in Osijek. The menus show the information about everyday nourishment of students (lunch and dinner) from the beginning of September 1926 until the end of April 1927. The users of the School canteen in Osijek were the students from Classical Gymnasium, Female Real Gymnasium, Male Real Gymnasium, Merchant Academy and Teachers’ School. Everyday nourishing habits of the students in Osijek in the first part of the 20th century can be analysed on the basis of these daily menus. The transcribed materials are kept in the State Archives in Osijek as Ivan Medved’s personal inheritance, who was the manager of the School canteen in Osijek during the 1920s.
