Summary/Abstract: While for 60 years the Pacific Ocean has taken the limelight of international politics, the Indian Ocean has currently become one of the most popular destinations of foreign policy’s studies. The reasons are multi-faceted: the readjustment of the national economies in the region, incredible economic ascensions, regional power imbalances that trigger a new strategic alignment, unfavorable consequences upon inter-state regional relations brought by the global recession or the intricate issue of energetic security. This paper aims to unfold the manner in which the People’s Republic of China through the security strategies (naval and terestrial) and the hegemonic scopes of its foreign policy influences the security architecture in the Indian Ocean region, and also to reveal the trajectory of sino-indian relations and its regional ways of unfolding.
