Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the similarities and differences in the foreign and security policies of the Baltic States and the Republic of Moldova, since these small states declared independence, following the disintegration of the Soviet Union. Beginning with the 1995 the Baltic States adopted 3 principles in their foreign policy: EuroAtlantic integration, regional co-operation and good neighborhood relations with Russia and are now EU and NATO members, but the Republic of Moldova chose the permanent neutrality, especially due to the Russian presence and the conflict in Transdniestria.
